This EIT automatic weather station is fitted with a radio receiver for collection of soil moisture data from remotely positioned sensors.
The station measures :
temperature - relative humidity - solar radiation - wind - rainfall and computes evapotranspiration at 5 minute intervals.
This station is fitted with land line modem for remote connection via the public switched telephone system.
Soil moisture sensors are located within the rows of coffee trees and below the irrigation drip line. Soil moisture information is transmitted to the weather station via the EIT data transceivers. The radio units are solar powered with battery back up.
Information from the radio
linked soil probes is automatically integrated into the data recorder.

Soil moisture data is transmitted
from each field node to a base receiver and eTech 6 data recorder. Real
time soil moisture information can be graphically presented in a GIS type
format. This is achieved by using an Excel spreadsheet which displays radio
receiver data via Direct Data Exchange (DDE) link using the EIT data recorder.
