EIT Low power radio modem - 900 MHz

Environment Information Technology (EIT) has developed a radio modem for use over 900 MHz radio frequency. This radio modem has very low operating power requirements and is ideal for solar powered installations.

This radio has very high receive signal sensitivity allowing considerable transmission distances to be achieved on low transmission power.  The radio can be optionally fitted with Yagi antennas for greater transmission distances.

The radio can be used for ‘licence free’ data transfer and complies with the Australian and United States regulations for licence free, low interference producing devices.

Applications - connecting RS 232 devices where cable is unsuitable and uneconomic.

Applications.

This low power modem was developed to provide a wireless data link between a base (office) PC and field data recorders r, weather stations  which would typically be located within a range of 4.0 kilometers. The radio link has many advantages including saving the cost of providing cables between a field data recorder and PC, the time involved in visiting site to retrieve data into a portable PC and virtually eliminates damage to instrumentation associated with line surge during lightning events..

When used in conjunction with the EIT data recorder 'auto pilot' software, this  feature will allow a cost effective automatic upload of field data to your PC at any user defined interval.

This technology when used in conjunction with the EIT telemetry based soil moisture monitoring system will provide irrigation managers with powerful decision support technology.
