Datatenna - 433 MHz data radio
433 MHz -
25 mW licence free (Aust, EU,UK) SDI-12 data transceiver
The EIT Datatenna unit is a telemetry
device with radio module and antenna combined in one sealed unit. The device
can be used over short distances to connect remote sensors for various
environmental monitoring purposes and was specially developed to provide
radio data links to the EnviroSMART soil moisture sensors. The device uses
the (UK, EU, Aust) unlicensed 433 MHz, low power radio frequency technology.
The unit has been designed to conform
to the requirements of the Australian Communications Authority radio communications
class licence for low interference potential devices (LIPDs). This Australian
class licence provides for the operation of transmitters in this band (433.05
to 434.79 KHz) up to a maximum equivalent radiated power (EIRP) of up to
25 mW.
The Datatenna unit is used in conjunction
with the EIT range of Intelligent Probe Controller ( IPC ) devices. These
devices control data collection and transmission from sensors such as soil
probes, water quality instrumentation, current and voltage input devices.
Applications.
The low power data transceiver was
developed to provide a wireless data link between remotely positioned sensors
and a central data recorder, weather station, PC or SCADA system . The
transmitters provide a wireless link for sensors which would typically
be located within a range of 1.0 kilometer of a central PC.
The radio link has many advantages
including saving the cost of providing cables between a field data recorder
and PC and / or the time involved in visiting site to retrieve data into
a portable PC. The radio link virtually eliminates damage to field instrumentation
associated with line surge during lightning events.
The unit is supplied with integral
mounted antenna in waterproof housing for direct placement in the field.
This technology when used in
conjunction with the EIT telemetry based soil moisture monitoring system
will provide irrigation managers with powerful decision support technology. |
